It will make its debut in November 13^th 2012, but it has already undergone leaks that the company had tried to contain. What little information that players can gather, part of the the storyline will take place in the distant future.

Black Ops 2 will essentially pick up where pick up where the first ops left off, skipping ahead a decade into the 1970s. The storyline itself will span throughout the 1970s and 80s and will follow in the year 2025. Without giving too much away, the primary antagonists will involve Nicaraguan terrorists and a cold war between the United States and China in the distant future. The beauty of the Call of Duty franchise is its grounded realism and a good sense of geo political world events. Modern Warfare did a good job of portraying a fictional war between Russia and the United States in the Modern Warfare series so it will be an interesting storyline to see a scenario of a cold war between the United States and China.

Call of duty Black Ops 2 is a departure from the cold war background from the previous installment. Traditionally, the Call of Duty franchise has been based on a World War Two or post World War Two setting. The modern warfare part of the series kicked it up a notch by taking place in a modern setting with weapons that players are more likely to recognize. With Black Ops 2, the setting will take place in the future with a creative interpretation on background and weaponry.

The franchise shows no signs of going in a Halo direction with flying spacecrafts, aliens and laser powered guns, but it will be interesting how game makers will come to interpret modern weaponry and what kind of enhancements and features that will come with using these futuristic weapons. It is any one’s guess, but game makers are more likely to draw inspiration from weapon technology of the future that right now is in prototype form when it comes to weapons for the military. Weapon technology is a huge industry worldwide and players will be privy to this type of technology that could debut in real life sometime in the future.

The storyline is a treat of the franchise, but its real viability is multi player mode. Players will surely be entertained for hours on end with its improvements to co-op and multiplayer. The game makers have even confirmed the return of zombies in Black Ops 2. Time will only tell as to whether or not co-op mode will far surpass previous installments, but given series’ track record quality graphics and good gaming, it is highly likely that co-op will far exceed expectations. Call of Duty Blacks Ops 2 will debut on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and computer. There is even talk that Black Ops 2 will make its debut on the Nintendo Wii, but so far there has been no official announcement.
